SMECC Upcoming Event
People rise higher against challenging winds when tethered to community.
Since 1979, Sunraysia Mallee Ethnic Communities Council (SMECC) has provided local migrant and refugee communities with a range of services. SMECC continues to work with, and represent all culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, within the Mallee region. SMECC’s core function is to connect communities, promote learning and share knowledge and resources.
Looking to Connect?
One of the SMECC values is to ensure that our culturally diverse community members have the opportunity to participate socially and economically within the wider community. Our Connecting activities provide a wide variety of opportunities for the members of our local CALD community. Our Connecting activities include, Playgroups, Youth activities, Aged Care Navigator, Sport and Recreation support, Settlement services and many more.
A desire to learn?
SMECC’s Learning activities are designed to assist our newly arrived culturally diverse community to participate within the wider community. We provide a range of learning opportunities for those wanting to increase their skills and knowledge. Some of our classes include, English language, Digital literacy and Driving lessons. We also offer tailored information sessions for community and Cultural training for organisations.
Sharing is caring!
As a registered charity SMECC works very hard to ensure that our community members are given the opportunity to thrive. Our Food Share program services all members of the community, providing much needed relief to families in need. Additionally, we often partner with other state and local organisations, to provide a wide opportunities to our culturally diverse community members, and of course we rely on the valuable contributions of volunteers and donations.
